We won’t link the papers since they are downloads controlled with a form. We’ve shared our email and name with Oracle, but we won’t jump their link. Oracle’s social media papers are too good to steal outright (lol).

Social Media Infographic

We won’t jump Oracles links, but we will steal a bit to create an infographic. Oracle is acting as a true oracle about social media. The may be trying to sell their integrated platform, but their desire to sell us doesn’t mean they aren’t understanding social media. Quite the opposite.

Oracle’s papers talk about the conversational nature of social media with the emotional desire to connect in ways we’ve never seen from a major Fortune 1,000 vendor. Sure our friends talk about social as conversation, social as connection and social as listening, but those ideas aren’t or haven’t been widely embraced despite our jumping up on soap boxes and screaming into a bullhorn.

In 2003, we got on top of a soapbox to shout about content marketing and then looked what happened.

Starting around 2008, so five years after we began ranting and were hoarse from the effort, everyone begins writing blog posts. So many began writing no one can hear anything killing the efficacy of our 2003 recommendations. Then in 2013, we hopped up on a new soapbox to scream about community and the need for emotional connections.

As Oracle joins our rant can there be in question of if social media’s highest efficacy is in the rearview mirror? Oracle’s papers embrace and advocate half of Curagami’s business model. If they write a paper about community and gamification we’ll need to figure out what’s next. Read Oracle’s social media marketing papers since they are excellent.

Combine Oracle’s social marketing ideas with ours about community and your marketing can roll up an entire business category. Gosh, who wants that? Who wants to become the AUTHORITY on your most important keywords? Oracle can get you half way home, and if they read this and don’t sue us they will be writing about gamification and community next. Once that happens we will need to be on another soapbox and your marketing will need to move on to having missed yet another bus.
